Development Replaced Disillusionment, Disappointment And Despondency In J&K: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hailed the progress made in Jammu and Kashmir in the last four years, saying that development, democracy and dignity have replaced disillusionment, disappointment and despondency in the region. He made these remarks in a letter to the people of J&K on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status to the erstwhile state.

Modi said that the historic decision of August 5, 2019, had ushered in a new era of peace, prosperity and progress in J&K, which had suffered from decades of violence, terrorism and separatism. He said that the people of J&K had shown their faith in democracy by participating in the local body elections, the District Development Council polls and the Panchayat Raj system. He also praised the role of the security forces, the administration and the civil society in ensuring law and order and delivering good governance in the region.

The Prime Minister highlighted the various developmental initiatives taken by the central government for the welfare of the people of J&K, such as the construction of roads, bridges, tunnels, airports, railways, power projects, hospitals, schools, colleges, universities, sports facilities, tourism infrastructure and cultural centres. He said that the government was committed to providing all basic amenities, such as electricity, water, gas, internet, health care, education and employment, to every household in J&K.

Modi also expressed his confidence that J&K would soon become a full-fledged state again, as per the promise made in Parliament. He said that the delimitation process was underway and that the Assembly elections would be held after its completion. He appealed to the people of J&K to join hands with the government in building a new and prosperous future for themselves and their children.

The Prime Minister’s letter was widely welcomed by the people of J&K, who expressed their gratitude and support for his vision and leadership. They said that they had witnessed a positive change in their lives and livelihoods in the last four years and that they were hopeful of more development and opportunities in the coming years. They also condemned the attempts by some vested interests to spread misinformation and propaganda against the government and the country. They said that they were proud to be part of India and that they would not let anyone divide them on the basis of religion, caste, creed or region.
